Age Old Wisdom

I believe that we are more than the sum total of our life's experience. However, we must accept that we are molded by our environment. We come to earth with a core and build upond that core as we grow and improve. We learn inumerable lessons that become part of our being and dictate our actions. Sometimes we fail to pass on to our children the "old-time" wisdom. Like the lesson that my son Spencer learned yesterday. I was driving with him in the car yesterday and had to chuckle as I watched him learn a life's lesson. So that you may understand the context of this blog I need to give you a little history. Spencer has had a deep raspy cough for the last few weeks and we have been trying to help him manage it. So I (in my medical wisdom) told him to expectorate after he coughs. Expectorate is a medical and probably a little more tactful term for to spit. I won't bore you, or make you more ill with any further anatomy or physiology lessons. Simply put we needed him to expectorate the mucus from his lungs. We were driving down a country road on this beautiful spring day. The sun was shining and it was a perfect spring day. We had the windows down so that the wind would rustle our hair and we were jammin' to the radio. Spencer turned to me and said.

"Dad, something really funny just happened to me."

I asked "what was that Spencer?"

He said "I was spitting out the window and the wind blew it right back into my face." He chuckled as only a six year old boy could after that experience and continued to wipe his face on his shirt. I had to laugh at my innocent and somewhat uneducated son while I realized that some lessons just have to be learned by experience. "Never spit into the wind."

Catch Up!

Life gets busy very, very fast. I've been hoping for my parents to do something with this blog, but to my disappointment it looks like I'm the only one who will bring this thing up to date.
Here is a brief update on everyone....
Veloy- he is busy working on the green house in our backyard. He finished our pavillion over the summer and is glad to be done with it.
Tamara- started homeschooling Chloe for half of the day. She loves spending time with her family. She has been a little busy with her calling lately but hopefully life will slow down SOON!
Sarie- She has been in track and cross country this year and is excited to start 10th grade at the new high school next school year.
Kali- also has been involved in track and cross country. She has been making lots of new friends at the Jr. High and loves it!
Chloe- spends about 95% of her life doing some form of gymnastics and loves it (not really that much, but it seems like it). She also has been making new friends at school and just celebrated her 10th birthday.
Spencer- is the baby of the family. He gets his way a lot of the time. He is a fun kid to have around and is always willing to help. He has been in gymnastics and is enjoying kindergarten.
